Just Keep Swimming

This weekend has all been about staying positive. I ended up working eight hour shifts at my group-home job Thursday through today so it was certainly a challenge to stay in good spirits. I decided that I was going to plan a few sporadic fun things to look forward through throughout my weekend to focus on the good and not the bad.

Cole Swindell Concert- It was great! I hadn’t gone to a concert in a while and going with Bemidji friends was an added bonus. Country music isn’t really my type but it was still a great time- especially when the group of friends I went with somehow scored pit tickets for us!untitled.png

Dance Class- I have been trying to stay active and lately I’ve fallen into a bit of a slump. My roommate and I decided to break out of this slump by taking a dance class at a new studio that opened in Bemidji- Babe’s Playground. It’s an Aerial Arts Studio and it was a really unique experience! They offer classes in Aerial Silks- (where you’re basically swinging on silks hanging from the ceiling, Aerial Hoop (circus performer shit), Pole Dancing/ Pole Fitness Classes, and Antigravity classes. I wasn’t really sure what to expect going into it but it was probably the best work-out I’ve had in a long time. My abs are still sore three days later. My roomie and I are planning on taking more classes this next week. Check out the website at Babe’s Playground!

Cooking- I really do enjoy cooking so I was pretty happy when my boyfriend suggested we try a new recipe for Spinach Artichoke Dip after I got off work at 11 PM. It was pretty late but there was something really fun about dancing around the kitchen drinking wine and cooking at midnight. It was totally worth it because the dip was REALLY good.

Valentine’s Day- I worked on Valentine’s Day so that was kind of a buzzkill. However, I wanted to make the best of it. I brought Valentine’s cookies to all the ladies I take care of and it felt so wonderful to make someone else’s day better. Seeing how happy they were by such a simple gesture gave me a warmth in my heart that money couldn’t buy. I ended up going to the Chophouse with my boyfriend after work where I had some wonderful seafood pasta. I really enjoy getting all dolled up for dates so going out was a perfect end to my day.

And here’s today! I work my last 8 hour shift and then I get tomorrow off. I need to keep a positive attitude and think of the fun things that are coming up in my life. I know that I’m blessed beyond belief so I will try to keep the positive attitude going. Life is better happy.
